New Jeans Minji, the full name Kim Min-ji, of the newly formed kpop girl group ‘New Jeans’, is an 18 years old south Korean singer. She is the group leader under the ADOR/ Hybe. She debuted on August 1, 2022, with the group New Jeans digitally and physically on August 8, 2022, by ADOR, under Hybe corporation.

The singer was born in Gangwondo, Yeongwol-Gun of south korea. But she was raised in Chuncheon. She went to Mancheon Elementary School and Sinsa Middle School and currently attending Hanlim Arts High School. She almost trained for 2 years. She was a former trainee under source music (2020). She was also part of global auditions by Big Hit.

Career

Pre-Debut

Ever since childhood, New Jeans Minji has been interested in dancing and singing. With her enthusiasm for dancing and singing, she started practicing every day. As the artist was training for more than 2 years, she was being contacted by many other entertainment agencies, like SM and JYP. She also passed the Plus Global Audition and became the face of the Plus Global Audition, 2019 which was organized by Big Hit. She also appeared in BTS’ ‘Permission to Dance’ music video along with her group member Hanni.

New Jeans Minji Debut

Minji with her breathtaking visuals, soothing husky vocals, innocence, and natural and charming performance, immediately rose to popularity. She also got the title ‘Nation’s First Love’. She debuted officially in ‘New Jeans’ with the group single “Attention” on august -1,2022. However, the group has already released their single “Attention” on July-22 and July-23, the group released their second single ‘Hype-Boy’. Then the group released their B-side ‘Hurt’ music video two days later.

On August 1st, the group’s EP was released digitally with their third single ‘cookie’. New Jeans Minji and the group made their broadcast debut in Mnet’s M Countdown on the 4th of august. The group made their first single album, “OMG” with the song ‘Ditto’. It became the group’s 1^st song to enter on Billboard Hot 100.

The leader and vocalist of the group was also involved in songwriting and making. She is also credited with songwriting one of their song ‘Ditto’.
