Park Jeongwoo was first introduced in the 2018 survival program of YG entertainment, YG TREASURE BOX. He was about 14 years old when he joined the survival program. Jeongwoo took only two days of vocal lessons before auditioning for YG entertainment. He got accepted in the entertainment label on March 19, 2018. Jeongwoo didn’t learn to sing before becoming YG trainee. He was one of the most extremely talented trainee during the show compared to others training period. Jeongwoo was considered as a genius in the show because of his singing ability. Even Yedam, one of the strongest contestants and longest running trainee in YG was also feared of him.
At first Jeongwoo wasn’t introduced as member of TREASURE with other four members; Watanabe Haruto, Bang Ye Dam, So Jung Hwan and Kim Jun Kyu in the final episode of YG TREASURE BOX. Park Jeong Woo was announced as fifth member of TREASURE on January 21, 2019. On 23rd and 25th of January, Yoon Jae Hyuk and Choi Hyun Suk were announced respectively as remaining two sixth and seventh members of TREASURE. They were set to make debut between May and July 2019 but was delayed.
Later in 2019 YG entertainment announced the formation of new group called MAGNUM from the other 6 participants of the show other than the first 7 members to be announced for the group TREASURE. The entertainment label announced to debut the both group TREASURE and MAGNUM as TREASURE 13 before they promote separately in two groups, but due to outrageous scandals surfacing the internet, YG postponed the debut of the group.
Debut with TREASURE as Main Vocal
2020 January 6th, YG entertainment released a new notice on their official website regarding the formation of 12 member boy group from the both group TREASURE and MAGNUM who would debut as one group TREASURE.
After the notice, the entertainment label started to post different contents of the group like TMI episodes, Treasure map etc. on their official sites. On 30th January 2020, the group released the performance video for their pre-debut track “Going Crazy”.
Jeongwoo officially made his debut on August 7, 2020 with other TREASURE member. He debuted as main vocalist and dancer of the group. TREASURE debuted with their single album THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER ONE. TREASURE released two more single albums on 2020, THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER TWO and THE FIRST STEP: CHAPTER THREE on 18th of September and 6th of November respectively. On 2021 January 11, TREASURE released their first full studio album “THE FIRST STEP: TREASURE EFFECT”. TREASURE also released Japanese digital single “Beautiful” on 14 February which was previously released on January 22 as the ending theme song for anime black clover. On March 31st 2021 the group also released the Japanese version of their first full album. The group released a mini album THE SECOND STEP: CHAPTER ONE on 15 February 2022.
